This bi-monthly guide re-launched with the June/July 2008 issue. It lists everything that is happening at all 4 Tate sites around the UK, from the latest exhibitions, to talks, films and screenings, and visiting information. The guide was created to bring together cross-TATE listings information, replacing several individual leaflets. When briefing us to re-design it, Tate described the guide as their ‘single most important piece of print marketing, and a key communication tool’. They print over 160,000 of each issue.
Our aim was to make the guide clearer, simpler to use and more elegant. We wanted it to be instantly recognisable, so the immediate change was to name the guide straightforwardly ‘TATE: JUNE/JULY’. Even without the TATE logo, it is obviously a TATE publication. We wanted the cover to be so simple that every cover image could speak for itself.
