Grafik Showcase - Martha Rosler
Bootiful
Taking Inspiration from handmade car-boot sale posters tied to road signs, London design partnership A Practice For Everyday Life has created the identity for Martha Rosler’s latest exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London. Garage Sale saw the American artist stage a jumble sale in the ICA’s gallery space, allowing visitors to have a rummage and barter for bargains. APFEL designers Kirsty Carter and Emma Thomas designed a book, poster and signage for the exhibition, borrowing the language and characteristics of actual DIY signs. Their brightly coloured A4 notices use familiar household stationary-like sticky stars and they’ve even hole-punched the edges ready to attach to lamp posts and spread the word around the London community.
