The exhibition at Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art presented key works from the collection of Dr Jeffrey Sherwin. Over many years, Dr Sherwin has built what is arguably the finest collection of British Surrealism in existence. The collection includes works by Eileen Agar, Roland Penrose, Henry Moore, Emmy Bridgwater and Conroy Maddox. Not only has he collected sets of original manuscripts, photographs, posters, but he also has many rare Surrealist volumes and curiosities.

By spending time rummaging / researching through the Sherwin collection with Dr Jeffrey Sherwin and Curator Gavin Delahunty, many of these rare
surrealist publications helped us make informed decisions over the design. The publication, exhibition and invitation include subtle elements of surrealist design.
