DANIEL BUREN —
INTERVENTION II WORKS IN SITU

Modern Art Oxford, Oxford

Modern Art Oxford asked us to design a publication for the Daniel Buren Exhibition. Our challenge was to create a publication which would be ready for the opening night, considering Daniel Buren always designs Work in situ he would be finished only one day before the opening and it was important to have gallery shots in the book. The material was an archive of all of his projects in the UK, alongside documentation of the show in Oxford. We worked with Daniel on the idea of a folder with inserts, the design of which was born out of the constraints of his infamous 8.7cm stripe, and the required number of sections and dividers – a brightly coloured mathmatical challenge of simplicity and purity.
